Our Journey

Empowered by Faith: Building Communities, Changing Lives

New Vision Christian Ministries International (NVCMI) is a diverse, non-denominational church founded in October 2002 by co-Pastors Curtis Maloy and Darren D. Thomas. After over 40 years of combined ministry service, they answered God’s call to lead with love, obedience, and a passion for people.

Both pastors faithfully served under the late Pastor Carol Riggins at Oceanside Gospel Lighthouse, embracing every role with humility

and dedication. Their experience in ministry and community outreach laid the foundation for NVCMI’s mission: to uplift the underserved, break cycles of poverty and addiction, and teach Biblical principles that inspire transformed lives.

NVCMI began with 15 members meeting in a mobile home park clubhouse, later moving to Vista Entertainment Center a bowling alley by day and nightclub by night. Each Sunday, members transformed the upstairs dance floor into a sanctuary, setting up and breaking down equipment, consecrating the space, and worshiping with joy and reverence. Despite limited resources, the Spirit of God moved powerfully, changing lives and restoring hope.

During this time, NVCMI expanded its reach locally and globally. The church supported missions in Africa, provided housing and food for homeless families, funded rehab for those battling addiction, and sponsored youth sports and education. It became a vital resource, offering scholarships, daycare support, and more.

In 2005, the ministry relocated to 2117 Industrial Court, where it remained for a decade. Pastor Maloy passed in 2007, but his vision lives on. Outreach remains central, with members actively organizing and participating in community events. NVCMI believes in the power of unity—every member plays a role, and together, they make a lasting impact.

The church has partnered with organizations like Save Our Streets (SOS), Firm Believers in Jesus Christ (FBI), and Interfaith, and launched initiatives such as Adopt-A-Block, Curtis Maloy Memorial Scholarship, Feeding the 5000, Sold Out 4Souls, and mission trips to Mexico and Africa. Programs also include Financial Peace University, tutoring, school supply drives, blood drives, and health fairs. NVCMI provides shelter, food, clothing, and hospital visits to those in need once even donating a van to a single mother of five.

In 2014, the congregation prayed for a permanent home. In 2015, God answered—providing a new facility at half the previous rent. In 2016, Pastor Thomas appointed Rev. Jesse C. Ortiz Jr. as Assistant Pastor and Rev. Paris Burnett as Pastor of Church Operations, while licensing 11 new ministers. The ministry also acquired a van and bus equipped for wheelchair access.

In 2017, NVCMI set its sights on a long-term goal: purchasing land and building a debt-free campus to serve the community more fully.
